Evans Trig-A-Lite Lighter Cigarette Case Combination

Evans Trig-A-Lite Art Deco Designs 1930s

Recently published information about The RONSON MASTERCASE Lighter Cigarette Case Combination. Although I don’t smoke I find these accessories fascinating. These days the 2 for a dollar gas station lighters are the norm. Back in the day Everyone smoked and it was considered elegant and COOL. The accessories were as important as the act of smoking itself. Ronson, Evans and Zippo lighters were quality items. Often a smoker would buy a lighter Have his/her initials engraved and keep it for life. These lighters are classic designs and great collectible items. Even more then the lighters I find the Lighter/ Cigarette case  combinations  to be very interesting. I recently published information on the Ronson Mastercase Lighter case combination which was the first and a very interesting and classic design. Shortly after the Mastercase. The Evans Company Located in Attleboro Massachusetts, came out with it’s own version of the one press lighter system, the Trig-a-light. Soon the Trig-A-Lite system was incorporated into a Cigarette Case Lighter combination. The Trig-A-Lite, popular in the 1930s, came in a variety of designs and finishes with an art deco feel. The Trig-A-Lite lighter was also a great design with the button smoothly depressed and the lighting mechanism then snapping up similar to a trigger on a gun, hence the name Trig-A Light. Due the similarities between the Trig-A-Lit and the Ronson systems Evans was forced to enter into a licensing agreement and began producing lighters under the Ronson Patent. The Trig-A-Lite system was discontinued in 1940 and was replaced with the Clipper and Spitfire designs. These new simplified designs were very efficient and easier to produce. A few examples of the Trig-A-Lite are shown at EVANS Trig-A-Lite Lighter Case Combinations  For a brief history go to Evans.
