Here’s one more on vintage cigarette lighters / tobacciana collectibles.

THE  RONSON VARIFLAME PREMIER. The original adjustable flame butane cigarette lighter.

Always the pioneer in innovation and design Ronson introduced this Classic in 1957. It was one of ,if not, the first adjustable  flame butane lighters. Its classic modernist styling and smooth operation made it an indispensable accessory to the movies, magazines and stars of the day. An icon of any age, this lighter is proof that true style never goes out of fashion. With it’s JET AGE Styling the Variflame set new standards in lighter design.

Although the Ronson Variflame was patent protected. This did  not stop other manufacturers from copying it. In a  1962 ruling  Ichikawa Sangyo, Aiwa Kaguku, Toho Sangyo and Toyo Aerosol  Kogyo agreed to stop production of lighters that infringed Ronson’s patent.

This is a true classic design that seems as fresh today as it din in 1957.
